Very fine example lettered BA neatly tied to a clean cover to Madrid by a London city 89 duplex for AU. 20. 1873 with a similarly dated Merchants cachet at lower left. Backstamped with a Madrid receiving cds for AU. 26. 1873. Although this plate was put to press in June the first official day of issue was SP. 1. 1873 a few examples have been found used prior to this date, pre release covers such as this are of the highest rarity.
