The doorknobs have a unique attachment method, patented in 1882 by O. M. Hidden. These types of doorknobs were sold by Union Doorknob. One doorknob has a flathead screw in the center which when tightened pinches two brass pinchers onto the shaft. The other knob is held in place onto the shaft. One side is adjustable to
