The cross was made by Phil Faulisi of Santa Clara County, California in the spring of 2002, with the specific clone selected in 2008. The cultivar name was coined by Trey Hale of Tallahassee, Florida, and formally submitted for registration by Faulisi in June 2016. Prior to naming, it circulated among collectors under
