with the sky being used from a photograph taken by the person who commissioned the painting

an area of total peace and quiet

and so the idea of including a shire horse was born

I thought the writing desk was a suitable backdrop to the composition as it is synonymous with the completion of a successful mission and a well earned rest period for the aircrew member
