The flies were tied by Howells himself - they are in exceptional condition and well tied as Howells was a very accomplished tyer

Originally made by Paul Young in 1957 and restored by Bob Summers in 1972 (including the new script in Bob's handwriting)

Dingley Alex Martin Thistle Fly Reel 3" 6'8" There is a minor hookA nice Dingley 3" fly reel made for retailer Alex Martin. Set up for RHW. Excellent patina and the frame and sideplate are on great condition. "Thistle" stamped on the winding plate along with "Alex Martin Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen". No major scratches or issues anywhere. Nice coin edge knurl in the inside edge of the crank side of the frame. Brass un filed foot. Nice dual check design and the spring and pawl look good. The tension adjuster works
